The Mecklenburg Grand Jury has handed down indictments in a variety of cases reported around the area.

Ethiopia Flowers, 33, is facing three counts of assault and battery against James Crawford, a law enforcement officer, in the performance of his public duties.  The charges stem from an incident that took place in the South Hill area on October 4.

Steven Lee Powell was indicted on charges of DUI after having been previously convicted of a similar offense.  The indictments stem from an incident which took place on February 11.  

Lakeith Jamar Pearson, 28, will face charges of offering money to a 16 year or older minor for sex.  The charges stem from incidents in the South Hill area from June 1, of last year, through February 22.

Clinton Walter Smith, 51, is facing charges regarding the sexual abuse of a child under 13.  The indictments stem from incidents that took place in the South Hill area in February of 2016.

Jonathan Lee Brown, 38, has been indicted for failure to register with the Virginia State Police for placement on the Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minor Registry after having been previously convicted of a sexually violent offense and having been previously convicted of failing to register or re-register with the Virginia State Police.

Derek Lee Yoch, 25, has been indicted on charges of obtaining property valued at less than $500 from South Hill Walmart in January and March after having been convicted of two or more offenses deemed as larceny or substantially similar crimes.  

Sherwin Cornelius Woodson, 28, has been indicted on charges of possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance and possession of a firearm while in possession of a controlled substance.  The charges stem from a March 9 arrest.
