Although this section of W. Danville Street remained passable, water pooled along the side of the road even before the last wave of storms made their way across the region.

Mecklenburg County was hit with waves of strong storms Monday night that produced thunder, lightning, and heavy rains. The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning for the area that was in effect for much of the evening and into the early morning hours, as the already-wet ground received an overload of rainfall in a small amount of time. As of press time, Mecklenburg County remains under a flood warning that is scheduled to expire Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. There will be another chance of showers Wednesday afternoon through Thursday morning, with showers possible Thursday afternoon, as well.

The National Weather Service also warned of wind gusts that could accompany the storms, but in spite of the potential for wind, Mecklenburg Electric Cooperative had few reports of power outages overnight.
