HITTING THEIR STRIDE – Kaylee Coker and the Park View HS varsity softball team are hitting their stride heading into the playoffs. The Lady Dragons won three road games last week to improve to 15-4 on the season and capture the Tri-Rivers District regular season title.

The Park View High School varsity softball team rebounded from an early season loss to Southampton HS to win its final three games and capture the Tri-Rivers District regular season title.

The three wins improved Park View to 15-4 overall and completed a 13-1 campaign in district play.

The Lady Dragons are set to play host to the district tournament title game on Thursday at 5 p.m. in South Hill, with regional play set to begin next Wednesday.

Park View finished the regular season with a pair of 13-0 and 14-0 wins in a doubleheader over Franklin HS on Thursday.

In the 13-0 win, Blair Clark hit a home run in the third inning, finished with 2 RBI and scored two runs, while Kaylee Coker went deep with a solo dinger in the fourth.

Elizabeth Powell had three hits and scored two runs in the victory, while Grayson Hudson had one hit, 2 RBI, and scored two runs.

Carson Wall scored two runs and added an RBI, while Skyla Williams had one hit and an RBI and scored a run.

Erin Bailey and Lizzie Wesson also had a hit and scored a run, while Dee Dee Cliborne scored a run.

Bailey picked up the shutout victory on the mound.

In the 14-0 victory over Franklin, Powell had two hits and 2 RBI and scored three runs, while Wall added one hit and scored four runs.

Alyssa Berryman had a hit, an RBI, and two runs scored, while Emma Jo Wolfe had two hits and an RBI and scored a run.

Coker had two hits and scored a run, while Bailey had one hit and added 2 RBI.

Madison Ezell had a hit and scored a run, while Wesson picked up the shutout win on the mound and added a hit and Clark scored two runs.

The Lady Dragons avenged their only district loss in the regular season by topping Southampton HS 5-2 on the road last Monday afternoon.

Wolfe earned the win in the circle, scattering five hits and striking out five.

Park View scored one run in the first inning when Ezell reached on an error and scored on a sac fly by Wolfe.

The Lady Dragons scored two runs in the top of the fourth when Wolfe singled, Coker advanced her to second with a sac bunt and Cliborne reached on a hit to the outfield. Bailey followed with a single to give Park View a 3-0 lead

Southampton scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth on three hits, an error, and a sacrifice to cut the lead to 3-2.

Park View scored a run in the fifth when Hudson singled and scored on a fielder’s choice.

The Lady Dragons added an insurance run in the sixth when Bailey singled and scored on an RBI triple by Wall.

Hudson and Bailey led Park View with two hits in the game, while Wall, Wolfe and Cliborne added one apiece.
