The Park View High School varsity baseball team improved to 12-1 on the season with three wins last week, including a 10-0 victory over Sussex-Central HS in six innings on Thursday.
Jefferson Barmoy went the distance on the hill against the Tigers, allowing only one hit and one walk while striking out five.
The Dragons got on the board in the first inning when Jarrett Hamby walked and scored on an RBI double by Cameron Sheets, who also scored for a 2-0 lead.
Park View plated five runs in the fourth inning when Cameron Shook walked, Justyn Hudson walked and both scored on passed balls.
Justin Clary reached on a walk and scored on an error, while Hamby tripled and scored on an RBI double by Sheets.
Sheets scored when Brandon Rolfe reached on an error.
Park View ended the game with two runs in the sixth inning when Jaison Dugger was hit by a pitch and scored on an RBI single by Logan Harrup. A single by Trevor Tanner drove in the final run of the contest in the 10-0 victory.
Sheets and Clary both had two hits apiece to pace Park View, while Hamby, Harrup, Tanner and Hudson added one apiece.
The Dragons topped Brunswick County 15-3 last Wednesday afternoon in Lawrenceville.
Park View went right to work as Justin Clary led off the game with a triple and scored on a throwing error for a quick 1-0 lead.
Mason Mills, Sheets and Dugger all walked to load the bases, and Rolfe drew a bases-loaded walk for a 2-0 lead.
A fielder’s choice by Barmoy scored Sheets, and Hamby singled to score Dugger. An RBI groundout by Hudson scored Barmoy for a 5-0 lead.
Park View added another five-spot in the third inning when Hamby doubled, Tanner singled and Hudson reached on an error to plate a run. A fielder’s choice by Clary drove in a run, and Mills singled before Sheets went deep to left field for a 2-run homer and a 10-0 lead.
Park View scored five more runs in the top of the fifth when Hudson tripled and Clary and Mills drew walks. A single by Sheets scored one run, while Dugger doubled to drive in two. A single by Rolfe scored Sheets and Dugger for a 15-0 lead.
The Bulldogs did not quit, however, and scored three runs in their final at-bat.
Mills earned the complete game win for Park View, giving up six hits and one earned run while striking out four.
Sheets led Park View at the plate, going 2 for 3 with a homer, three runs scored and 3 RBI, while Hamby went 2 for 3 with a run scored and an RBI.
Rolfe had one hit and 3 RBI, while Dugger added one hit, scored two runs, and tallied 2 RBI.
Mills and Hudson added a hit and an RBI, while Tanner and Clary added one hit apiece.
Shook and Clary also scored three runs apiece in the victory, while Dugger and Hudson scored twice.
The Dragons topped Surry County 11-4 last Tuesday afternoon in a district contest.
Clinging to a 5-4 lead in the sixth, Park View broke out for six runs to put the game away.
Cameron Shook earned the win on the mound for Park View, pitching five innings and allowing only two earned runs and one walk while striking out eight.
Hamby pitched the final two frames, walking one and striking out one.
Rolfe went 3 for 4 at the plate in the victory with three runs scored and an RBI, while Dugger went 2 for 5 with 3 RBI.
Sheets went 2 for 5 in the victory, while Mills, Barmoy and Ethan Stanley each added one hit and an RBI.
Hamby and Hudson also added hits.
The Park View JV baseball team got back on the winning trek with a 10-6 victory over Amelia last week to improve to 6-3 on the season.
