The visiting Halifax County varsity girls’ softball team overcame a 6-0 deficit to top homestanding Park View HS 13-8 last Wednesday afternoon in a non-district contest in South Hill.

The loss dropped the Lady Dragons to 1-1 on the young season.

Park View got off to a great start in the bottom of the first when Madison Ezell walked and starting pitcher Emma Jo Wolfe singled.

A walk to Grayson Hudson loaded the bases and Alyssa Berryman followed with a single to drive in two runs.

Dee Dee Cliborne walked to load the bases and Kaylee Coker, Brook Howerton and Erin Bailey all followed with RBI walks to give the Lady Dragons a 6-0 lead.

Park View added another run in the second inning when Ezell walked, Wolfe singled and Berryman reached on a fielder’s choice scoring a run for a 7-4 lead.

The Lady Comets responded with four runs in the third, three in the fifth, and two in the top of the seventh.

The Lady Dragons added one run in Lady the bottom of the seventh when Wolfe doubled and scored on an RBI single by Berryman.

Wolfe and Berryman led Park View with three hits apiece in the game while Howerton added one.

PV, 13-11

The Lady Dragons earned a come-from-behind 13-11 victory over Colonial Heights HS on the road last Tuesday afternoon in the season opener.

Trailing 11-10 going into the top of the seventh, Howerton reached base after being hit by a pitch and Bailey reached on a fielder’s choice.

Carson Wall reached on an error and Ezell followed with a single to drive in two runs and then came around to score for a 13-11 lead.

The Lady Dragons retired the side in the bottom of the seventh to preserve the win.

Park View got on the scoreboard in the first inning when Ezell and Wolfe singled and scored.

The Lady Dragons scored three runs in the second when Cliborne and Howerton walked and Bailey followed with a single. Wall drove in the next run with a sacrifice.

Hudson, Berryman and Lizzie Wesson all scored for Park View in the third inning to give the Lady Dragons an 8-1 lead.

Colonial Heights rallied with two runs in the third, three in the fifth, and five in the sixth.

Wall singled and scored for the Lady Dragons in the fourth inning on a sac fly by Hudson. Wolfe walked and Hudson singled and both came around to score in the sixth inning.

Wall, Ezell, Bailey and Hudson had two hits apiece for Park View in the victory while Wolfe added one.
