Notice of Public Informational Meeting

The Roanoke River Service Authority (Authority) hereby provides public notice of its intent to apply for an increase to the Authority’s current Virginia Water Protection (VWP) permit (Permit # 94-1501), a surface water withdrawal permit, to supply additional volume for an expansion to the current water treatment plant (WTP), all to meet increased water needs from the Authority.  In order to obtain public comment on the proposed project, the Authority will conduct a Public Informational Meeting on June 6, 2022. The meeting will be held in the Board Room of the Mecklenburg County Administrator’s Office at 350 Washington St, Boydton, VA 23917. The meeting will begin at 6:00 pm.

The proposed water supply project shall utilize the existing raw water intake and raw watermain located on Lake Gaston immediately west of Highway-One, and the expansion of the WTP located at 5419 Highway-One in Mecklenburg County, Virginia. Utilizing existing infrastructure, the proposed project will not impact Lake Gaston nor any other wetlands or streams.

B&B Consultants will accept written comments by e-mail, or postal letter.  All comments and requests for information must be in writing and be received by the B&B Consultants no later than 5:00 PM, June 3, 2022. Submittals must include the names, mailing addresses, and telephone numbers of the commenter/requester and of all persons represented by the commenter/requester. 

B&B Consultants will maintain a list of commenters/requesters and shall make a good faith effort to notify these respondents (at the address provided by the commenter) when the draft VWP individual permit is available.
