(Boydton) Erosion and Sediment

Control Inspector

Recruitment Compensation Range: $48,000 - $52,000

*Candidates without existing certification will be placed at the minimum of the range.

Job Summary: Under general supervision of the Zoning Administrator, the Inspector will perform technical work inspecting local construction and residential projects to

ensure compliance with code regulations of the County and Commonwealth of

Virginia regarding erosion and sediment control measures.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Include: Inspect construction projects to enforce County ordinances governing the requirements of erosion and sediment

control measures. Maintain inspection

reports and issue notice of violations,

notice to comply, and stop work orders. Employee must exercise initiative and

independent judgement in performing

inspections. Employee must exercise

considerable tact, courtesy, firmness, and professionalism in frequent contact with property owners, developers, contractors, and the general public. Inspector must have the ability to proceed through

construction sites with uneven and varying terrain and work in outdoor weather

conditions, such as hot or cold

temperatures, wet or humid conditions, and working near heavy construction equipment.

Minimum Qualifications/Experience:

Erosion and Sediment Control Inspector shall possess a valid Virginia or North

Carolina Driver's License, a high school diploma or equivalent, and one to two years of experience in construction site

inspections. Must be proficient in

mathematics "Algebra". Inspector will drive a county vehicle during inspections. A

Virginia DEQ Erosion and Sediment

Control inspector certification is preferred or must obtained within one year of

employment. The County will pay for the completion of the certification for a

successful applicant who does not

possess the certification upon

employment.
