Residents at Pine View Assisted Living in South Hill enjoyed a poetry reading from local author Lisa Clary recently. She, along with Carolyn Jones presented the residents with patriotic scarves to wear for the upcoming Memorial Day, Flag Day and Fourth of July holidays.

At 1 a.m. on Thursday, May 19, on duty South Hill Police Corporal Fleming overheard three to four gunshots when conducting regular business checks in the East Atlantic and Hammer Street area. Additional units were called in to assist and began searching for the source of the gunfire.

At approximately 1:00 a.m. on May 19, 2022, South Hill Police Corporal C.B. Fleming was conducting business checks in the area of E. Atlantic and Hammer streets when he heard 3 to 4 gunshots in the area. Additional units responded to the area and started to search for the location of the gunfire.

A combined baccalaureate service and commencement exercise will be held at Brunswick Academy on Saturday, May 28, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. The guest speaker will be Dr. Robert L. Rowland III of Smyrna Baptist Church in Dinwiddie, Virginia. Thirty-two seniors will be graduating. 

The South Hill Town Council debated the appointment of Directors on the Community Development Association at the Monday, May 9 regular meeting.

On Sunday, May 15, at approximately 6:13 a.m., the South Hill Volunteer Fire Department and the Southside Rescue Squad were dispatched to a two-vehicle crash in the southbound lane of Interstate 85 at the one-mile marker. 

Mrs. Jessie Ruff volunteered in Mrs. Brooke Inge's fourth grade science class at Clarksville Elementary School to do an experiment that show the greenhouse effects. Mrs. Forehand, CES Assistant Principal joined in on the lesson.

Last month, both the Chase City Town Council and the Board of Supervisors approved a boundary adjustment on property owned by Microsoft. Microsoft originally approached the Board because they wanted to cut down on the regulatory agencies they would have to deal with going forward.
